Carol's arrest Continued from home page.
Carols animals were seized in March of 2004 and at that time there was no life time ban in the statues that could be applied as part of the punishment. The judge said it in court but no judge can impose a fine or punishment that does not exist as part of the statue. The animal rights groups such as PETA and HSUS mounted a letter campaign to demand the judge impose a life time ban on her.It was not written in the court documents and so the state AWD could not just rush in and seize her animals again and Carol has filed law suits against the officials of the state of Maine and has moved her case to Federal court in another state. Carol never strayed far from home so the state couldn't just rush in and seize her animals while she was away and they couldn't get anyone into the house or barn to spy and file a complaint. We believe that the head of the AW Dept asked PETA to file a complaint so that they would have a reason to go to her home. They knew she had not paid her fines so they had her arrested and then they placed an officer at her property to watch and make sure no one could go and feed or remove her animals to safety.
Then they went in with a warrant the next day and took her animal.
